The first term is over. Connor is reading easy books, such as those about a puppy named Biscuit. At home we are working our way through the Junie B. Jones series- currently on # 11 or 12 (she smells something fishy). Newest discovery is the Magic Tree House books, beginning with High Tide in Hawaii, found on CD at a yard sale. The Magic Tree House seems to be akin to the Magic School Bus, where the characters magically experience some other place and time. From what I heard of that story, the kids visit old Hawaii, learning about the culture and the tsunami phenomenon. Connor was entranced, so I stocked up on more audiobooks from the series. Last night he began Dolphins at Daybreak. I expect a report today.
Last week kindergarten went on a field trip to the farm Connor visited in PreK: there are now three cute little pumpkins sitting on our hearth (one from the grandparents who visited last weekend). There are three more soccer games in the season. He plans to trick-or-treat as a Transformer, in a costume borrowed from a neighbor. He is excited that this week he will rise the bus TO school in addition to riding it home. He is out of school today and tomorrow for "Fall Break."
